How to Prepare for New Online Banking
With our new online banking launching in January 2017, we have lots of improvements and updates coming your way: an awesome new look, customization options, money management tools, free bill pay, external transfers and a shopping rewards program, just to name a few.
While we are excited to bring you a better online banking experience, you might have some questions about what’s to come, and we want to make this an easy and seamless transition for you. Below are some key points you should be aware of before we launch our new online banking.
1. What to Do to Prepare:
Make sure we have your correct email address on file. This is very important because you will not be able to log in to the new online banking unless we have your valid and up-to-date email address. To update your email address:
- Log into your current online banking.
- Click “My Settings” in the upper right-hand corner.
- In the Primary Email box, click “Update” next to your email address.
You may also call our Member Service Center at 978-452-5001 to update your email address or visit your nearest branch.
Take note of any external transfer information you have saved in your current online banking. If you are a user of our current external transfer service, any saved external transfer information will not be carried over to our new online banking. This includes information saved in “funds transfer”, in which you can transfer money to your own accounts at other financial institutions, as well as any information saved in our person-to-person transfer service, Popmoney®. We recommend taking note of all of your external transfer information so you can easily input it in the new online banking.
With our new online banking, you will have two options for external transfers:
- Our “external transfers” option will allow you to make transfers to your accounts at other institutions, making it easy to move money around between your accounts.
- PayUp!, our new person-to-person transfer service, will allow you to transfer money to other people using their debit card information. There will be a $3.00 fee for this service.
Make sure your browsers and device software are up-to-date. What’s great about our online banking is that you can access it anytime and from various mobile and desktop devices. To ensure you are getting the best of our online banking enhancements, keep your Internet browsers and device software consistently up-to-date.
- Our new online banking will be available on Internet Explorer 11 and above, Edge, Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari.
- Our new online banking will also be available on mobile and tablet devices that run on Android and iOS software.
- A new mobile app will also be available.
If you’d like to make any changes to your current online banking account settings, do so before January 15th. This includes changes to your username, password, email address, phone number, security options, account settings and alert settings.
Any changes made after January 15th will not carry over to your new online banking account.
Quicken/Quickbooks users: If your Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union accounts are set up in Quicken or Quickbooks through online banking, you will need to complete an account deactivation and reactivation process within Quicken/Quickbooks. Before the new online banking launches, it’s important to back up your data to ensure all of your information is up-to-date before completing the account deactivation and reactivation process. To back up your data within Quicken/Quickbooks, follow the steps below:
- Select the Help menu and search for Backing up your data. Follow the instructions.
- You’ll also want to update your Quicken software. Choose the Help menu and search for Update Software. Follow the instructions.
The steps for the account deactivation and reactivation process can be found here for Windows users and here for Mac users. This process is to be performed within Quicken/Quickbooks after the new online banking launches.
2. What to Expect:
If you are a current online banking user, when you log into the new online banking system for the first time, you will log in using your current username and the last four digits of your Social Security Number (SSN) or Tax Identification Number (TIN) as the password.
If you try to use your current online banking password, the system will lock you out and you will be unable to log in. You must enter the last four digits of your SSN or TIN as your password when logging in for the first time.
After you log in with your current username and the last four digits of your SSN or TIN, you will be directed to set up your new online banking information. The steps are as follows:
- Reset your password following length and character requirements
- Set up five security questions
- Select or upload a confidence image for an additional piece of security
- Confirm your contact information
- Subscribe to our personal finance management tool, eStatements and eDocuments, if you choose
You will then have the option to either complete your profile, view your accounts or customize your settings. Whichever option you select, you will be directed to accept the Online Banking Agreement and Disclosure and confirm your PDF accessibility. Once accepted, you will be successfully logged into the new online banking and have full access to your account details, features and settings.
Once you’re logged into online banking, you will see your “Dashboard.” The Dashboard serves as the home page of your online banking. This is where you will see an overview of all of your accounts. To view them in more detail, click on the “Accounts” widget.
The Dashboard includes numerous “widgets” such as Bill Pay, Check Deposit, Transfers, Budgets, Savings Goals, eDocuments and More. By clicking a widget, you can easily access each of the awesome features our new online banking has to offer.
On the Dashboard, you will also see your profile image, your name and an arrow in the top right-hand corner. When you hover over this, a dropdown menu will appear. This is where you can edit your settings, such as contact information, profile image, password and security options. You may also activate a new theme, manage your accounts, link any of your external accounts and set up shared access for other people to view or make transactions within online banking.
The Dashboard also includes any budgets you have set up with Money Compass, financial resources and educational articles, scheduled transactions within the next 15 days, past transactions within the last 15 days, and promotional banners for you to click on and learn more about Jeanne D’Arc products and services.
Some of our current services will be different with the new online banking. All good changes, we promise!
If you currently receive email or text message alerts notifying you of account activity, balances or reminders, these will not carry over to the new online banking. Instead, we will be offering a new “Notifications” feature with over 20 different options for alerts!
Text Message Banking
Text Message Banking as you know it today will no longer be available with our new online banking platform. Instead, you can set up account alerts through the new “Notifications” option. These alerts include transaction alerts, balance summary alerts, transfer alerts and more. You can also choose to be notified at a certain time of day, on a weekly or daily basis, and by both text message and email.
Although our current FinanceWorks™ program will not be offered in our new online banking, we will have an even better personal finance management tool called, Money Compass. With Money Compass, you can create multiple budgets, establish savings goals and keep track of your spending with analytics. You can also link accounts from other financial institutions, which will allow you to manage your overall finances.
If you are currently enrolled in FinanceWorks™, you will automatically be enrolled in Money Compass.
If you are currently in the FinanceWorks™ trial period during the time we switch to the new online banking, Money Compass will pick up right where FinanceWorks™ left off. For example, if you enrolled in FinanceWorks™ in September, you will not be charged for Money Compass until March.
Money Compass is free for the first 6 months, then $4.99/month for individuals and $6.99/month for businesses.
With our current online banking, Popmoney® allows you to conduct transfers to other people using their mobile phone number or their bank account information. You will be able to make these types of transfers with the new online banking using our new person-to-person transfer service, PayUp!
PayUp! will allow you to transfer money to other people using their debit card information. There will be a $3.00 fee for this service.
Retail Rewards will present cash back and discount deals from hundreds of thousands of your favorite retailers. Whether you shop online or in stores, you can easily earn extra cash by shopping through the Retail Rewards widget.
Through Shared Access, you may give other people who are not joint owners on your accounts special permissions within your online banking account.
There will also be NEW incredible features we don’t currently have in online banking.
Online Account Opening
Open a deposit account or apply for a loan from within online banking.
Create personalized savings goals, which you can add funds to using your accounts in online banking. Watch your savings grow!
Place a “Stop Payment” on checks without having to contact us or visit a branch. There is a $25 fee for this service.
If you’re out of paper checks, don’t worry! Log into your online banking and easily reorder checks.
With many changes and updates, there’s no way we’d take away your favorite features offered with our current online banking. These features are staying put, but with improvements, of course.
Remote Check Deposit
Deposit a check from your desktop or mobile device.
eStatements and eDocuments
View, print and save your important financial documents such as bank statements, tax forms and notices.
Send and receive secure messages through your online banking account for easy and convenient communication with us.
We are excited to offer a brand new mobile app! Depending on your device, you will either have to update our current app or download our new one.
iOS Users: If you have auto updates enabled, the new mobile app will automatically update. If you do not have auto updates enabled, you will need to visit the App Store and update your app.
Android Users: You will need to visit the App Store to download our new mobile app.
